Offshore Shipbrokers launch new website

New Website

Offshore Shipbrokers are proud to announce the launch of our new website.


As well as the new visual makeover our new site is clearer to navigate making it easier to find the information you need quickly. We have included better contact information for our offices, brokers and staff and even have staff photos so you can now put a face to a name!


Our new site introduces our brand new Market DATA © platform. Within this section you can access live North Sea data which our brokers collect and publish in realtime.To access our Market DATA © platform you will need an account. We provide this service FOC to genuine applicants only. If you already have a previous 'Informed Chartering' account from our old site then you can use the same username and password to logon. We intend to add new content and tools to our Market DATA © platform regularly so watch this space.

Offshore Shipbrokers Ghana welcomes new broker

Gertrude Adwoa Ohene-Asienim

Offshore Shipbrokers are delighted to welcome our new local staff member to their regional office in Ghana. Gertrude Adwoa Ohene-Asienim - MICS. LLM. Grad Dip. BA joined us during September and is going through a period of familiarisation. Gertrude is a member of the institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) in London and in addition holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Maritime Law with elective courses in Petroleum Law and Marine Insurance from the University of Oslo. Gertrude has previously worked as a Lecturer of Maritime Law, Marine Insurance at the Regional Maritime University. Gertrude will be spending some time in the Aberdeen office in the New Year, she will be meeting with vessel owners and learning more about the spot and term markets which will give her valuable experience.

As per our previous announcement our offices in Aberdeen and London will be providing on-going mentoring and assistance. From our Aberdeen office Christine Wain will be overseeing the day to day business in Ghana with regular visits to the Tema office to meet with Charterers and Owners. Jonathan Bawden will be assisting from the London office.

Offshore Shipbrokers Limited now employs 14 brokers from its offices in London, Aberdeen and Tema. As you are probably aware it is involved in all aspects of the offshore industry from the chartering of rigs, PSVs, AHTS etc. to barges, security vessels and crew boats together with newbuilding and Sale & Purchase activities.

New broker expands rig broking activities

Gavin Strachan

Offshore Shipbrokers has appointed Gavin Strachan to expand its rig broking activities and to provide market intelligence on the drilling rig market to its clients.

Gavin Strachan is well known to the offshore community from his frequent addresses to conferences around the world. This has included presenting for the past eight years a keynote talk at the annual Pareto Conference in Oslo, as well as giving his views on the market at many other events in locations such as London, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Beijing and Houston. He has 30 years experience in the drilling industry.

Gavin was previously Principal of ODS-Petrodata and founding director of its predecessor Bassoe Offshore Consultants. Before that he was with Atlantic Drilling, UK’s largest offshore drilling contractors.

Educated at Cambridge University, he now lives just outside Oxford and is based in Offshore Shipbrokers' London office.

Offshore Shipbrokers open office in West Africa

Offshore Shipbrokers is delighted to announce that it has just opened a regional office in Ghana. From the new offices in Tema, Offshore Shipbrokers Ghana Limited will provide its usual high quality consultancy and broking services both for the Ghanaian market as well as the wider West African offshore industry. The new company is ready for business and is fully equipped with all the necessary local licences.

Jonathan Bawden will support from the London office and travel regularly to Ghana. Local staff will be employed to support the office, and we will also promote knowledge transfer by apprenticeship training via the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. We will of course provide ongoing mentoring from our Aberdeen and London offices.
